AMPULANCE is the one of, if not THE, main linchpins of our Local Rock Scene at the moment.

| Quote: | | Ampulance started up one summer when 3 of the female gender got together to speak of orgies and t-rexes. Somewhere along the way we realised that along with our souls, the scene had ceased to exist. Seeing that a zine was the perfect way to awaken sleeping heads, Shehara, Vicky & I started one up. Content was easier to find than a clothes shop in Karama. Our main concern and obstacle to a famed zine was.....the name. Oh all the late nights and drunken drives. Alas the 3 of us and our promiscuous male companion (Dayaan) went out in search of a name worthy of the zine! It had come to be like our child. Until a certain someone came up with a name that cracked upon a completely new universe. The universe of an emergency in our scene. Ampulance seemed like the epitome of our main concern and raison d'--tre for the zine. So it stuck. During our content-grubbing phase, we came to meet a rather ridiculous peasant boy (Chris) and his master (Martin). We partook in some afternoon intercourse and produced what we called the Ampulance Compilation CD. Our zine had a sibling. So we put 4 and 2 together and got what we now call the Ampulance Crew *jazz hands* Together we work better than Simon and Garfunkel. But that's a lie. Victoria, Shehara, Dayaan, Chris, Martin and Veronica - Together we make ze Ampulance! We work to release compilations of local artists from the UAE, hold regular acoustic and plugged shows and publish zines consisting of content by, for and about the local music scene here in the UAE. As we continue to reproduce, with your help (and currency exchange) we hope to bring you a hell of a lot more zines, compilation cds and shows. |
